As shown in her video, worn-in and comfortable denim shorts are a staple to a Coastal Cowgirl’s closet. Top the outfit off with your favorite cotton striped shirt, your cowboy hat, and boots! It’s all about staying cool, casual, and keeping that sun off of you!

“This trend is all about tonal neutrals, lots of denim, casual cowgirl boots and your favorite cowgirl hat (felt or straw)! I think of it as a laid back, urban cowgirl vibe and love mixing up the ways I style western staples,” writes Shaley in her recent post about the trend.

The trend can be as complicated or easy as you make it! It’s a great opportunity for a layering moment. Plus, you already have everything you need for it in your closet! This trend touches on the boho style that was popular last summer.

Prep your hair by curling and adding texture spray for extra volume and thickness.

STEP 1:

Section your hair into two even parts.

STEP 2:

Working with one section, pull the top half of your hair into a high ponytail.

STEP 3:

Make a second ponytail that sits beneath your first.

STEP 4:

Split the top ponytail into two even sections and wrap around the bottom ponytail.

STEP 5:

Secure the two sections of the top ponytail beneath the bottom ponytail with a clear elastic.

STEP 6:

Repeat Steps 4 & 5 until you have reached the end of your hair.

STEP 7:

Repeat Steps 3-6 to the other section of hair.

Finish off the look by adding a silk wild rag, fashion hat, or other fun hair accessories.

Film cameras, too, are hugely popular as of late. Some stores can’t even keep them in stock!

We used to delete or edit grainy photos, but now, grainy photography is happening on purpose. Why?

Since the world is going retro, photography is, too. Film cameras like those of the late 20th Century are making a huge comeback, but if photographers don’t have access to genuine film, grainy filters are the next best thing. Grain makes photos appear artistic and vintage in a way that clear photos just can’t match.

Plus, these photos can appear softer, helping Instagrammers’ feed aesthetics stay warm and comforting.
