Taylor Sheridan’s empire of hit shows only continues to grow with the recent news of his new show Landman. Based on the podcast “Boomtown“, the West Texas-based show is set to center on “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”
Focusing on the rise of the oil industry in West Texas, filming of the new drama has recently begun in Fort Worth, Texas. This drama is sure to uncover all the highs and lows of oil tycoons and their families.
“Landman” is co-created and executive-produced by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. Sheridan executive produces under his Bosque Ranch Productions banner, which is currently under a rich overall deal at Paramount Global.
Back in early 2022, it was announced that Billy Bob Thornton was set to star in the series as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company. Norris made an earlier appearance in Sheridan’s hit show 1883. Recent reports have also started to release more acting details and roles, including Demi Moore. According to a release from Paramount+, Moore is set to play a character named Cami, who is “wife to one of the most powerful oil men in Texas and friend of Tommy Norris”.
Recently, it has been announced that Kayla Wallace (“When Calls The Heart”), frequent Sheridan collaborator James Jordan (“Yellowstone”) Mark Collie (“Nashville”), and Paulina Chávez (“The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia”) have all joined the series as regular characters.
While details of this highly anticipated show are limited, Taylor Sheridan fans wait in eager anticipation for the new series. A release date has not been announced yet, however, reports have speculated the series will air on Paramount+ by the end of 2024.
