They were originally made to protect cowboy and cowgirl's legs from the rough country they rode in. They can be seen in an assortment of colors, with or without fringe, in various shapes and sizes. They are more associated with buckaroos, originating from Spanish vaqueros. Similar to chaps, chinks can come in an assortment of colors, shapes, sizes, fringe lengths, the amount of tooling, and more.
