Dear cowgirl,

Strikes me that we could learn a lot from a log cabin. I don’t mean one of those fancy new ones with the plastic logs – I mean the solid, stood-the-test-of-time homesteads.

The ones carved out of harsh country and hard work.

What if we approached our lives like a homestead? Like these old cabins with axe marks in the logs.

Chose an environment that we knew we’d thrive in.

Work on our surroundings.

Pay attention to detail.

Make sure care is taken to protect against the odds.

Create something that will last through the years, something that your children could be proud of, remember and pay homage to.

What if we approached our relationships like we did crossing rivers? Carefully and thoughtfully – looking at what lies on the other side, and appropriately making decisions for the future.

Dear cowgirl, this year I am going to try and live life a little more like a homestead- like a cabinthoughtfuland able to withstand the storms and tests of time.
