X My Ich

It’s not every day that a great one hits the market. Grab your checkbooks and mark your calendars, because the Johnson family will be offering you their World Champion head horse on March 11th at the Rancho Rio Rope Horse Sale. 

Piloted by Dakota Kirchenschlager to the winner's circle, X My Ich (Cat Ichi x Stylish Santa (Docs Stylish Oak)) was the 2020 American Rope Horse Futurity Open World Champion Head horse, and the 4 yo incentive champion. X My Ich is no one hit wonder. With multiple open championships under different riders, he has made a name for himself everywhere he goes.

Owned by Tara and Darren Johnson, the stylish gelding lovingly called Bugatti will be offered to the public. 

The Johnson family is no stranger to making great horses. Last year's ARHFA World champion heel horse, WND Affair (Whizkey N Diamonds x Cowgirl Affair (Major Vaquero)) rode by Joseph Harrison, was purchased from the Johnson family last year at the Ranch Rio sale. “My husband is such a talented man with the horses, it makes it easier for the trainers after Darren has been ridding them,” says Tara. 

One of the biggest assets to the horses produced by the Johnson family is that they are used. Both horses have been utilized by Darren at the ranch, doctoring cattle most of their four year old year. “We sent them both to Dakota in July of their four year old year and their second show was the Rope Horse Futurity,” says Tara. 

X My Ich isn’t just a world class head horse, he’s a killer heel horse too. “Darren heels on him in the non-pro and has placed on him every single trip to town,” Tara explains. In 2021, he walked into the short go sitting second high call. “His short round run was absolute perfection and we were blessed to walk away with the World Champion Head Horse, and the icing on the cake was he did it as a four year old." 

This ’16 model gelding sells with a year of eligibility left in the rope horse futurities. Originating from TJ Good as a cutter, then going to the Johnson, X My Ich is an all around pleasure to ride and be around. Tara says, “One of my biggest joys is getting to swing a leg over Bugatti and go for a ride such a broke, nice horse." 

He has a heart of a winner and it has been shown to the world. “My biggest prayer is that he goes to the perfect home, and that he blesses them as much as he has blessed us."
