Most riders strive to be the best they can be! Why settle for mediocre when you can be exceptional... You may be wondering what it takes to be a great rider. It's not necessarily how many years you've been riding, but rather the skills that you have and how dedicated to the sport you are.

Habits of Every Great Rider

  1. They remain open to learning! These cowgirls seek out new learning opportunities through lessons, clinics, books, etc...
  2. In order to stay motivated, these riders set short- and long-term goals. They don't want to get stuck in a rut, so they plan for the future. Some will write down the goals and display them at the barn.
  3. These horse owners may be focused and determined, but they also know when to quit. This is because they're in tune to their horse. Pushing a horse past their breaking point can end in disaster. They have gotten into the habit of listening to their horse.
  4. They have the ability to control their emotions. The situation may be frustrating or even frightening, but neither way they stay calm and rational.
  5. They surround themselves with like-minded individuals. Great riders know the importance of having role models and people you respect around you.
