Yes, you read that right. Dakota Johnson is starring in (and executively producing) Rodeo Queens comedy series from Amazon.

The series, Rodeo Queens, will follow a group of young women vying for a coveted rodeo queen title. Although few details are concrete, this is sure to be an interesting series.

The series’ star, Dakota Johnson is best know for her roles in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. She has also been in How to Be Single, The Five Year Engagement, The High Note, and Ben and Kate. The series creator, Christy Hall, is associated with the Netflix series I Am Not Okay with This. The executive producer and director,  Carrie Brownstein, worked on Portlandia. And working alongside Johnson as co-executive producers will be Ro Donnelly and Elisa Ellis.

Former rodeo queen here, and consider my interest peaked! There are some humorous aspects of rodeo and vying for a queen title to say the least. However, I hope this “Rodeo Queens” comedy series will portray these women truthfully. Rodeo queens are hardworking, intelligent horsewomen competing for much more than a crown. Rodeo Queen-ing takes Grit, Guts, And Glamour.

I hope the show hires fact checkers and use the depth of knowledge from actual western women, rodeo queens, and supporters.
