"My name is Andrea Thorp. I am a 30 year old Western marketing and media professional hailing originally from the great state of Iowa. My pursuit of a career in the Western industry started at age 18, expanding from rodeo media into a passion for celebrating Western culture through fashion. Setting out to share my devotion to Western artistry and style, I created “The Rodeo Mrs”, a Western fashion blog. This served as a catalyst into Western editorial, forging relationships with household names in the Western apparel and jewelry industries as Fashion Editor for Cowboys & Indians Magazine.

"During my time at Cowboys & Indians Magazine, I fostered friendships with Native American silversmiths, deepening my passion for sharing their ancient art on an expansive scale. This passion for Native-made turquoise jewelry led me into my current role as Marketing Director for Hippie Cowgirl Couture, a leading Native American jewelry retailer where I work to expand the reach of Native-made jewelry. Interwoven with my role as Fashion Editor for COWGIRL Magazine, I aim to amplify Native American-made artistry to new heights."

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: The story of the West could not have been written without the substantial role of women, and I believe that story continues to unfold as the term “COWGIRL” evolves and expands to include diverse walks of life, and trails into the heritage we love and cherish.

While some cowgirls stoke the fire of tradition as ranch managers and rodeo committee executives, others live out cowgirl values - fierce independence, grit, and tenacity, while walking the streets of New York City and the beaches of Hawaii, donning a cowboy hat like a beacon of enduring culture, inviting all to share in the community of Western ideals.

In my vision, there are opportunities to contribute for all who wish to make an impact, and ultimately, continue the timeless story of the West - diverse yet connected, driven and convicted to carry our way of life to the next generation of cowgirls.
