Julia Zatopek  makes her home in Stephenville, Texas when not on the road at various tradeshows and markets. At the ripe age of 21, Julia has started her own business and is turning heads by putting her own personal twist on vintage fashion and hand-made goods.

According to Julia, “I taught myself how to tool 5 years ago, I’ve always been a crafty person and loved art so it just came hand in hand. I started my business, Crooked Skull, one year ago because I was having more and more people wanting to buy items from me. I don’t do customs because I like to use my own vision and customs restrict you to only doing so much. My favorite part about my business are my purses, I really like that they are unique by the exaggerated fringe and furs, if you’re walking with one of them you really get the looks. My future plans for Crooked Skull are to eventually design clothes using different hides and also tan my hides, sticking to purses, clothing, and jewelry. I also plan on continuing traveling to shows, so be on the look out!”

You can definitely tell why Julia said the purses are her favorite creations. The one pictured above is made from South African springbok and buffalo hide leather with a dramatic fringe accent. It is a head-turner, no doubt.

I’m a firm believer in paying attention to detail, clearly Julia is too!

Thank goodness chokers have come back in style! I have the one on the very top and love it.

Did you see Julia and this jacket at Texas Antiques Week? Just one of the many shows you can catch her at!

Our girl knows the way to a cowgirl’s heart: turquoise, a dream catcher, and a cactus.

This is an oldie but a goodie! Bucket bags always seem to have so much room which is vital, but I’m digging the way the detailed strap goes all the way down the side!

I have always loved the “End of the Trail” silhouette, don’t you?

Julia had a special for these little wallets going on after Thanksgiving. How fun are they?! They definitely went fast!

Julia used rabbit fur, fox, tail, and LOTS of fringe on this bad boy! It’s definitely another one of the head-turners!

Catch up with Julia next at the All Around Ranch Rodeo Finals in Fort Worth, June 15th-17th. You can also  keep tabs on her Instagram @crookedskullleather and visit her website.
