One of the most infamous women of the Old West was a gambler named Eleanora Dumont.  She traveled from one gold boom town to another, winning and losing fortunes dealing cards.  In time the New Orleans born beauty’s looks faded and a shadow of dark hair began growing on her upper lip. She was then dubbed Madame Mustache.  How Eleanora came to be such a fixture in the Wild West is the subject of award-winning author Manuela Schneider’s book Memoirs of Madame Moustache

The life and times of the legendary character is reinvigorated in the page-turning paperback about the pioneer gambler by the talented and skillful wordsmith.  Schneider takes us back to where it all began for the courtesan and master of the game Twenty-one, and the journey is a wild ride complete with intrigue, scandal, and gunplay.  Memoirs of Madame Moustache is inventive and an action packed read.

In addition to learning about the tragic tale of Dumont’s life, Schneider’s book acts as a travelogue across the frontier.  Readers will saddle up with the accomplished gambler as she makes her way from New Orleans to California, Idaho, and the Black Hills.
