8 Must-Watch Westerns On Netflix

You’ve heard people talk about it, and you can finally see it for yourself! If you’re in search of murder, intrigue, and outlaws, try Once Upon a Time in the West (1968).

Learn more about the iconic Western lawman in this exciting biographical film.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)

Don’t sit down to watch The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) and expect the beginning, middle, and an end like some of the traditional Westerns on Netflix. This is a collection of Western shorts, each with an interesting (and almost unsettling) twist. Worth a watch to stimulate your noggin!

Back to the Future: Part III (1990)

Probably the best movie of the triology, if you ask a cowgirl! Back to the Future: Part III follows old pals Marty and Doc on their quest to—get this—go back to the future. Before you stream this one, though, be sure to watch the original and Part II so you’re fully caught up! Parts I and II are also available on Netflix.

The Highwaymen (2019)

This one’s for the Old West history buffs. The Highwaymen (2019) stars Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner as Maney Gault and Frank Hamer, and follows the pair of former Texas Rangers on the hunt for Bonnie and Clyde.

Walk. Ride. Rodeo. (2019)

Okay, so this isn’t a traditional Western…but it’s still super important for cowgirls to see! Walk. Ride. Rodeo. (2019) tells the story of Jan/Feb 2020 cover cowgirl Amberley Snyder, from her paralyzing accident to her recovery.

The Hateful Eight (2015)

From director Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight (2015) follows eight men on a hazardous trek through post-Civil War Wyoming. Bounty hunters, sheriffs, and outlaws abound in this thrilling drama.
