King Ranch Saddle Shop says howdy to Austin, Texas! The Birthplace of American Ranching opened its doors at the state capitol in 2023 in South Congress.

Inspired by the durable, handcrafted leather goods made to outfit Captain Richard King and the Kineños of King Ranch, King Ranch Saddle Shop provides master-crafted leather goods, top-quality outdoor gear, apparel and other products designed for work and life on the original American ranch. You can, of course, also order a custom-made King Ranch saddle. 

“Every element of our King Ranch Saddle Shop here in Austin harkens back to the birthplace of American ranching,” said Mario Vega, Director of Retail, King Ranch Saddle Shops. “We designed the shop to be a true outpost of King Ranch, embodying its rich history with artifacts and stories from the Ranch itself.” 

To give the Austin King Ranch Saddle Shop a look and feel all its own, design elements begin before you even enter the store. The Ranch’s iconic Running W® logo is branded into an oversized wooden entry door. South Texas taxidermy – including coyote, a nilgai shoulder mount and a replica of the largest whitetail deer ever harvested on King Ranch – are on display throughout the new Saddle Shop. Perhaps, the most nostalgic of all design elements is a saddle once owned by Bob Kleberg, a third-generation descendant of Captain King and President of King Ranch for almost 50 years. 

 “Every item on display and every item we carry is made with the rugged elegance and styling unique to our South Texas heritage,” Vega said. “We still apply the same standards and values to craft high-end, purpose-driven products that empower our customers’ pursuit of the work and leisure activities they enjoy - activities that have also been a part of life on King Ranch for more than 170 years.”
