One Of Rodeo's Favorite Power Couple's Strikes It Rich In Vegas

A World Championship Breakaway title. A National Finals Rodeo (NFR) Tie Down Roping Arena Record. An NFR average championship and multiple go-round wins. What do all these impressive accolades have in common? They all belong to one of rodeo's hottest power couples, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Haven Medged.

The duo has been breaking records and raising the bar in both breakaway roping and tie-down roping during the 2023 WPRA/PRCA season and the NFBR/NFR. During the 2023 NFBR, Shelby took home her first world championship breakaway roping title and set several records along the way. Throughout the 10-round competition at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Boisjoli-Meged continued to excel, winning two rounds with a 2.1-second run in Round 2 and a 2.0-second run in Round 5. Dominating the competition, she finished third in the average, roping 8 calves in 27.6 seconds. This accomplishment also broke the season earnings record, concluding her season with nearly $200,000 ($197,706) in the bank.

In the tie-down roping, all eyes were on Haven Meged, as he chipped away at Riley Webb's impressive lead. Concluding his 2023 season as the reserve world champion, Meged also won the NFR average and broke the average record, roping all 10 calves in an impressive 77.40 seconds. Meged also rose the roof of the Thomas and Mack during his round 7 performance, where he set the arena record with an electrifying 6.4-second run. Taking home over $216,000 during the NFR alone, Meged concluded his season with over $400,000 in the bank.

The power couple was married last May and has continued to dominate the rodeo world and capture fans' hearts along the way. The duo, who also trains their own impressive horsepower will certainly be bringing in the new year with lots to celebrate.
